Lately I've been experimenting with ways to add texture and dimension to my page layouts. In looking through magazines and online galleries, I noticed that I am repeatedly drawn to layouts that have some element of collage.
Collage is a skill that does not come easy to me. It seems I get the first layer done and then just draw a blank. This is when revisiting my stash helps me. I collect all of these things because there is just something about them that I like, but have never quite figured out what to do with them. When I look at them in them in the context of a collage or layout I'm working on, I always find just the thing I need to go right there.
So that's why my stash keeps growing! Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Cheap Thrills
Like you, I probably spend waaaaay too much on scrapbooking, am always looking for a bargain and love free shipping for online purchases. Today I am experimenting with my new Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die. First, I cut the flowers using the cardboard from a cereal box. I was able to get 26 flowers from 1 box! Then I embossed them.
I inked, stacked and attached them with a brad. Next I tried covering the the cardboard with patterned paper before cutting and embossing them.
I'm going to glimmer mist some, add stickles to some and add some bling to the centers. I love the way they turned out and that they were cheap to make. If you have ideas on other ways to jazz them up, I'd love to hear from you.
